When the average Joe gets hungry, he grabs a couple snacks from the refrigerator. When Iceland’s 6’9″ 400-pound Hafthor Julius Bjornsson (aka Thor) gets hungry, he grabs a couple of refrigerators.

'Game of Thrones' behemoth Thor Björnsson carries two fridges

On the premiere episode of Guinness World Records Italian Show, Bjornsson outraced World’s Strongest Man 2014 winner Zydrunas Savickas, to become the fastest to carry two fridges over 20 meters. The two appliances plus the carrying rig weighed a staggering 992 lbs (450 kg).

HAFTHOR BJORNSSON IS BIG NEWS

Bjornsson, who appeared as Gregor “The Mountain That Rides” Clegane on every season of Game of Thrones, save the third, has been a consistent newsmaker the last few years. He sparred with Conor McGregor who was prepping for UFC 194, appeared in the music video for Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish“, and broke a 1000-year-old world record by carrying a 10-meter long, 640 kg log for five steps.

WORLD’S STRONGEST MAN

In 2018, Bjornsson won his fourth Europe’s Strongest Man competition in five years, and his first World’s Strongest Man title — Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall — after three third-place finishes in years past.

After Lithuania’s four-time World’s Strongest Man champion Zydrunas ‘Big Z’ Savickas pulled out of the competition due to injury, Bjornsson outlasted Poland’s Mateusz Kieliszkowski and Americans Brian Shaw and Matins Licis for the win.
