Led by senior midfielder Taylor Cummings and sophomore attacker Megan Whittle, the Terrapins women’s lacrosse team is aiming for a third consecutive NCAA championship. Aside from the dynamic duo, three Maryland juniors were also named preseason All-Americans: defenders Alice Mercer and Nadine Hadnagy, and midfielder Zoe Stukenberg.

Maryland begins their quest for the program’s thirteenth overall women’s lacrosse championship on February 13th with a home game versus William and Mary. The Terps’ quintet of All-Americans will be supplemented by the nation’s second-ranked recruiting class.
TAYLOR CUMMINGS
In 2015, Cummings won her second Tewaaraton Award as the most outstanding women’s college lacrosse player, out pacing fellow nominees Shannon Gilroy, Sarah Mannelly, Barbara Sullivan and Kayla Treanor. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if Cummings becomes the first player to win three Tewaaraton awards at the conclusion of her senior year.
MEGAN WHITTLE
In the next couple of years, Whittle herself will likely be in competition for a Tewaaraton Award or two. As a Maryland freshman, she contributed significantly the team’s run to the title, including scoring back-to-back goals against the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 9-8 championship game. Before joining the Terps, Whittle, like Cummings, attended McDonogh School where she helped the Eagles to a mind-boggling 80-0 lacrosse record during her four years.
