Long before Robert Downey Jr. was cast as Iron Man, there was another Junior that earned the moniker: Cal Ripken Jr. The native Marylander played all 21 seasons of his MLB career for the Baltimore Orioles including a league record 2,632 consecutive games.
ORIOLES ALL-TIME ROSTER
Ripken’s career wins above replacement (WAR) of 95.5, leads the franchise’s all-time roster by a considerable margin. The team’s other biggest WAR contributions came from third baseman Brooks Robinson (78.4) and pitcher Jim Palmer (68.1), who played on all three Orioles championship teams (1966, 1970 and 1983).
Two players from the team’s erstwhile incarnation as the St. Louis Browns also make the team — outfielder Ken Williams and pitcher Urban Shocker.
