Big Papi’s broken bat single leads off our top 25 baseball Vines of MLB’s first half
David Ortiz has made a career out of hitting the baseball a long, long way. Halfway through his farewell season, Big Papi has already collected another 22 homers to take his career total to 525 — good enough for 19th place all time.
With a career punctuated by walkoff home runs and clutch hits, it’s no surprise that Ortiz was recently frustrated by managing only an innocuous single versus the Rangers.
While most broken bat singles occur when the ball hits the bat, Ortiz busted his bat over his thigh on the way to first base and headlines our top 25 Vines of the MLB’s first half.
