Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban is a two-time NHL All-Star and 2014 Olympic gold medalist with Canada’s hockey team, but his accomplishment’s on the ice pale in comparison to his recent philanthropic splash.
The Toronto-born Subban, who is a key player for the red-hot Habs, made a $10,000,000 charitable commitment to the Montreal Children’s Hospital. The gift represents the largest ever made by any athlete in Canadian history.
''It's a monumental day. P.K., when we started out, I think your mom... we just wanted you to be this NHL hockey player, and now you're a wonderful person.''
— Karl Subban, on son P.K.'s evolution
To support his varied business and charitable efforts, Subban launched a new website on Friday, October 16, following a celebrity-fueled countdown.
