Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe go three rounds debating the latest sports headlines with our in-house judges scoring them blow-by-blow.

RND 1: COWBOYS CONTACT ANDREW WHITWORTH

The Dallas Cowboys will be without All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith indefinitely after suffering a knee injury. Retired offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth said during an interview last night that the Cowboys have been calling and texting him to gauge his interest. The only problem Whitworth said is that it’s not him, but it’s his family that needs the convincing. Whitworth was a member of the Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl winning team last season. Skip and Shannon answer if they see Jerry Jones and the Cowboys bringing in a proven replacement for Tyron Smith.

Shannon and Skip are basically in alignment regarding Whitworth, but Skip edges his debate opponent to take the first round.

RND 2: RUSSELL WESTBROOK’S FUTURE

After the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly acquired Patrick Beverly, The Athletic is suggesting it may be the end of Russell Westbrook’s time in the purple and gold. The situation now quote ‘makes it more likely that Westbrook will be off the active roster by the start of training camp, either through a trade or the team sending him home a la the Rockets with John Wall last season.’ Skip and Shannon share what they believe will happen with Russ next season.

Skip has trouble divorcing himself from his LeBron James obsession in any conversation regarding the Lakers and drops the round.

RND 3: PANTHERS TO PLAYOFFS

Baker Mayfield will get some playing time tonight in the Carolina Panthers final preseason game. Mike Jones of USA Today listed the Panthers as the team that could have a surprise surge this season. Madden’s simulation of the season also has faith in the Panthers with them making the playoffs as a Wild Card team in the NFC. Skip and Shannon answer if the Panthers will make the playoffs.
