With their win over the OKC Thunder on Thursday night at Oracle Arena, the Golden State Warriors tied the 1996 Chicago Bulls’ NBA record for consecutive regular season home wins with forty-four. The game was lent a somewhat regal air given the presence of funk royalty seated courtside.
Witnessing Steph Curry’s game-leading 33 points was Prince, who is scheduled to perform at the venue tonight. The afro-haired musician of Purple Rain fame sported dark sunglasses, a beaded necklace and walking cane to accessorize his indigo-colored tunic.

THE PURPLE ONE
Owing to his nickname, “The Purple One” might seem a natural fit as a fan of the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns or New Orleans Hornets — or, owing to geographical bias, his hometown Minnesota Timberwolves. Nevertheless, Prince made his respect for the Warriors’ star player and reigning NBA MVP known at his concert last Sunday in Oakland’s Paramount Theater.
YOU CAN COUNT ON CURRY
Curry returned the love from His Royal Badness with a purple-hued post on Instagram after the game.
PRINCE’S HOOPS CONNECTION
The artist formerly known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince has long been known to be big basketball fan. He even went so far as to have a court installed at his Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
A decade ago, Dave Chappelle famously lampooned Prince playing basketball for a sketch piece on his Comedy Central show. And this past Halloween, LeBron James affected his own impersonation of the High Priest of Pop.
