While his late-night talk show peers often take on weighty social issues or offer political commentary (see Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert), Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon has always liked to keep things light and is always coming up with new games to play… like Random Instrument Challenge versus former NBA great Shaquille O’Neal.
RANDOM INSTRUMENT CHALLENGE WITH SHAQ
The premise of Random Instrument Challenge is simple: the competing players (in this case, Jimmy and Shaq) take turns drawing cards. The first card indicates the song to be played, and the second card, the instrument upon which it is to be played. Then The Roots, the Tonight Show‘s resident band, tries to guess the song being played.
Shaq has worn many hats (and uniforms, for that matter) over the course of his professional career, before settling into a his role as a basketball commentator on Turner’s NBA on TNT. The former NBA star has dabbled in acting, rapping, law enforcement and even mixed marital arts, but based on his Tonight Show performance, it’s a safe bet he won’t be gigging in a band anytime soon.
