At the upper end of financial compensation spectrum are chief executive officers of the world’s biggest corporations, but not much below them are the biggest names from the world of competitive sport.
WORLD’S HIGHEST PAID ATHLETES
Forbes‘ ranking of the world’s highest-paid athletes last year had three soccer players sitting atop the top ten, and a trio of NBAers in the bottom three slots. In positions five and six are a pair of NFL quarterbacks in Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. who was the top dog in the 2018 Forbes’ rankings, failed to make the top ten after (mostly) retiring from the fight game. The lone boxer in last year’s top ten is Canelo Alvarez who made serious bank in his rematch with Gennady Golovkin.
