First it was a couple mountain bikers with a pioneering a ride down a white-knuckle ski slope outside Wyoming’s Jackson Hole, then it was a fellow cyclist taking on a downhill ice track built for skates. Alas, do skiers and ice skaters need to keep on eye out for cyclists these days?

Yannick Granieri isn’t much of a skater, but he is a world-class mountain biker, and so it was the Frenchman used a bike with spiked wheels to take on the downhill ice track intended for skaters at Red Bull Crashed Ice in Marseille, France.

Despite the challenge of staying upright on the insanely slick ice, Ganieri managed to land a terrific tailwhip off the course’s biggest jump.

When he’s not slip sliding his way down frozen race courses, Ganieri can be found flipping out on more traditional mountain bike terrain.

In 2014, Red Bull caught up with the Crankworx Les2Alpes course designer at the first stop of the FMB DIAMOND SERIES, where then 27-year-old discussed the evolution of mountain biking and his own introduction to the sport.
