Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe go three rounds debating the latest sports headlines with our in-house judges scoring them blow-by-blow.

RND 1: MAYFIELD OR DARNOLD?

According to Carolina Panthers Head Coach Matt Rhule, Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold were quote: ‘both in command’ during their preseason win against the Washington Commanders. Baker got the start and led Carolina to a field goal while Darnold threw a touchdown. Rhule did not say which quarterback will start in their next game against the New England Patriots. Skip and Shannon debate whether the Panthers should start Baker or Darnold.

Shannon faults Mayfield’s lackluster red-zone offense, while Skip goes all-in on what he calls the “steal of the century” for the Panthers. Skip takes round one on all three judges’ cards with his over-the-top passion for the former Oklahoma slinger.

RND 2: COWBOYS DISCIPLINE PROBLEM

The Dallas Cowboys opened up their preseason schedule with a loss to Shannon Sharpe’s Denver Broncos. During the loss, the Cowboys were penalized 17 times for 129 yards. Dallas was also the most penalized team a season ago. After the game, Mike McCarthy said quote: ‘I think we all recognize that this isn’t the regular season. This is preseason, I don’t think this has anything to do with last year.’ Skip and Shannon discuss whether the Cowboys’ first preseason game was a big deal or not.

Shannon comes back strong in round two, lowering the boom on Cowboys coach McCarthy for not having his team ready. We’re all even going into the third round.

RND 3: KEVIN DURANT’S ULTIMATUM

Kevin Durant’s trade request came to a dramatic head after the star NBA player had a meeting with Brooklyn Nets’ owner Joe Tsai. KD put an ultimatum on the table: Either trade him to a team of his choice or fire head coach Steve Nash and GM Sean Marks. But with four years left on his contract, and little leverage, it’s clear the Nets are in no rush to to trade Durant, and have no intention of letting go of Nash or Marks. Skip and Shannon examine KD’s options and decide whether he’ll start the year in Brooklyn, or be traded before the offseason is out.

Skip lost all his credibility in his wildly vacillating takes on Durant long ago (even with KD himself), while Sharpe delivers relentless body blows to take the round and win the day.
