Floyd Mayweather is reportedly finalizing a deal to meet UFC star Conor McGregor in the boxing ring. The bout has the potential to break the all-time pay-per-view record as both combatants, when properly motivated, know how to promote a fight like nobody’s business.

MAYWEATHER’S MAYBE
Mayweather had been dropping hints for several weeks now that he wanted to return to fighting after announcing his retirement last September with a perfect 49-0 record. A win against McGregor would move him out of a tie with Rocky Marciano for the best professional boxing record with no losses.
PYRAMID HOPPING
To avoid the soft-Rocky-Balboa trap, Mayweather will have to get his mind and body back in the game after playing Marco Polo the past few weeks on a globe-trotting vacation. The 39-year-old took in not one, but two of the most famous pyramids in the world over the past couple of weeks, with a dip in the tranquil-blue waters of the Maldives stuck in between.
Ultimately, Mayweather will need to get serious about training back home in the shadow of yet another famous pyramid — the Luxor Las Vegas hotel.
HE WHO LAUGHS LAST
UFC president Dana White locked McGregor locked out of UFC 200 after the talented Irishman refused to fly to Vegas for promotional duties. If the Mayweather fight happens it appears McGregor will get in the last laugh.
Mayweather, like White, would be foolish to underestimate McGregor’s resolve. His boxing skills have steadily improved since his pro MMA debut in 2008 and were receiving special attention in his most recent training camp. As for the possible meeting with Mayweather, McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh posted a picture to Twitter with a punny caption…
It's really fine mayweather we're having here pic.twitter.com/gUF73OUOer
