Dustin Poirier came on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show to explain why he was interested in taking on Garry Tonon in a grappling match, which now has been called off.

POIRIER WANTS A MCGREGOR REMATCH

''We were supposed to fight a while back, then he was talking a little bit of trash, that was the reason I wanted to go out there and beat him up, but now that he's not taking fights, I've got to move on.''

— Poirier, on possible fight with Nate Diaz

In addition to discussing Tonon, “The Diamond” shared what UFC fights (4:50) he’s interested in next, saying he’s moving on from a desired bout vs. Nate Diaz. Poirier said he’s interested in a rematch with Conor McGregor and (11:01) looked back at his title fight vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov before giving his thoughts on Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson.

Finally, (13:50) Poirier, who is currently stationed in Florida, revealed he had a meeting with American Top Team’s Dan Lambert about Colby Covington and “keeping everything business right now.”

WHERE IS THE PAIN?

Poirier, the third-ranked contender in a stacked lightweight division, is still waiting for the UFC to offer him his next fight after he lost a heartbreaker at UFC 242 to Nurmagomedov. He recently shared a tweet from inside the octagon following that fight, that has since gone viral.
