After becoming only the first player in history to average a triple-double in three consecutive years, Russell Westbrook — now in his first year with the Houston Rockets — will almost certainly be ousted as the league leader in that rarefied statistic this season.

With Westbrook way off his pace from previous years, Luka Doncic is the current leader in triple doubles with 14 thus far this season.

Hot on the heels of Doncic’s triple-double total are LeBron James (13), Nikola Jokic (12), and Westbrook himself (8). A bit further off the pace are Ben Simmons (6) and last season’s MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo (4).

LUKA DONCIC

Doncic’s latest triple-double came in a March 4 road overtime win over the New Orleans Pelicans, when he collected 30 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists. The second-year phenom is currently sixth in the league in scoring and fourth in assists.

James’ collected his thirteenth triple double of the season in a road win over the Pelicans with 34 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists. At age 35, LeBron leads the league in assists and is in the top twelve in scoring.
