Former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is prescient. In the build up to her UFC 248 fight with current champion Zhang Weili, she predicted the fracas would be the greatest title fight in the division’s history.

Not only did the brutal, fast-paced slugfest live up to Jedrzejczyk’s hype, it was being discussed by many as the greatest MMA fight in history regardless of weight class or gender. Fight fans far and wide took to Twitter to weight in after Weili retained her belt by the narrowest of margins in a split decision.

The grotesque swelling that Jedrzejczyk suffered to her forehead left many wondering what happened and how it happened. In the above video, sports medicine specialist Brain Sutterer MD explains how a hematoma forms and eventually heals.
