Julia Goodwin, a junior on Baldwinsville’s girls lacrosse team, also happens to be a pretty decent singer. On Tuesday, the 16-year-old put her own spin on the Goo Goo Doll’s “Iris” in the quarterfinal round of “America’s Got Talent.”

JULIA GOODWIN’S GOT TALENT

While Goodwin’s performance didn’t garner enough votes for her to make it through to the next round, her audition from a few weeks ago left a lasting impression on the show. She wowed the judges and audience alike with a pitch perfect rendition of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind.”

Goodwin’s singing ambitions are far from over, but for now it’s back to school and playing midfielder on the B’ville Bees varsity lacrosse squad. Still, don’t be surprised if her silky-smooth voice becomes a fixture on the radio someday…
